I have waited a lifetime to attend the Last Great Race, and this year will be there, with many friends met on various talk forums and Iditarod support groups. For those of you not with us in person, be there with us here!

I've been checking daily and am glad to see new posts. How long was the flight from Anchorage to Nome? And how far? Google maps say, "We could not calculate directions between Nome, Alaska and Anchorage."
I think it was about 2 hours. Can't exactly remember. Right, no roads from Anchor-town to Nome. The 'Iditarod Trail' is a little more or less than 1000 miles, and it's round-about. So I would guess 700 miles or so.
